Vera has fifteen years of accounting and tax experience, and specializes in several areas including individual taxation, construction accounting, land development and non-profit accounting. Her clients have ranged from small sole proprietorships to Public Corporations requiring Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings. She has worked on a range of engagements varying from simple bookkeeping analysis to income tax audit representation, SEC audits, and Agreed Upon Procedures engagements.

After successfully passing the Enrolled Agents exam with the IRS in 1995, Vera began to build her own tax practice, specializing on the needs of businesses. Vera continued to work on her education, and subsequently passed the CPA exam in 2000 with scores placing her near the top of all applicants. She earned her bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix and was selected to be the speaker at her graduating class ceremonies.

Vera has worked for a few of the top Accounting firms in San Diego County and was most recently a partner at the firm of CEA, LLP in Carlsbad, California, a firm that boasts 25 years in business with various awards for their excellence in tax and accounting work. After several years with CEA, she developed a large enough client base to leave the firm and open her own practice. These clients encompass a wide range of industries and sizes, and some have been with her for many years. Vera is now very proud and excited to introduce her own company, Vera DesFosses & Associates.

Vera’s tax experience is broad, including not only the preparation of individual and business returns, but also gift tax returns, offers in compromise, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service. She also has vast experience in entity formation and tax planning for individuals and businesses.

In addition to her education and tax experience, Vera has years of accounting experience, focusing largely on the needs of small to mid-size businesses. She handles everything from bookkeeping analysis and payroll tax return issues to financial statement compilation and review. She can perform ratio analysis, financial forecasting and budgeting.

Vera is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the California Society for Certified Public Accountants. Vera and her husband, Wayne, have lived in Vista for the last fifteen years.
